So just when you thought the KBA Free Fall Ball couldn’t get any better…
Last night, members of the Queen’s Gaels Baseball Club came out to support the kids of KBA in developing skills and having tons of fun on the field. The kids were thrilled to have the “pros” there (it may as well have been the Jays!!!). This is exactly the type of partnership that the KBA is thrilled to have and we’re so impressed that the young Gaels understand the importance of giving back to the community and the game. It was awesome to see.
A huge thanks to Gaels Coach, Jeff Skellhorne-Gross along with the Queen’s Athletic Department and Queen’s Journal Sports. We look forward to many more sessions in the future and also to coming out and supporting your team at Megaffin this season. The Gaels schedule can be found here. Get out and see some great University ball!!!
Fall may be here and arenas may be getting busier, but baseball is thriving with the Kingston Baseball Association. We decided to offer FREE Fall Ball this year for the first time this season and we expected to have good turnout, but we didn’t expect 215 kids to show up for the first week!!! We are thrilled that so many kids came out and had so much fun, and the general reaction from kids and parents was outstanding. There were lots of experienced players who had a blast honing their skills and lots of first-timers who loved the gameplay and instruction from outstanding coaches.
It’s not too late for you to sign up your son/daughter. At the KBA, we ALWAYS find a way to get kids to get out playing, building confidence and having fun!
The annual AGM for the Kingston Baseball Association was very well attended as the league is certainly experiencing growth. There was plenty of discussion, including a presentation of the finances, a review of the 2016 season, a review of the constitution and by-laws and finally the forming of a new board. For the 2017 season, the board will consist of:
- Dave Boyle
- Michael Ferguson
- Jeff Hanley
- Jim Hunt
- Tori Labarge
- Greg Murphy
- Ken Spicer
- Carol Vallier
- Steve Vallier
- Kristina Yeomans
It was made clear the the KBA is all about supporting kids and making sure that everyone is having fun while improving skills and developing their overall game. The summer may be ending soon, but with Fall Ball starting soon and skills nights coming during the winter, we feel like we’re just getting started.
If anyone would like more information in regards to the AGM, please don’t hesitate to ask. The KBA takes great pride in transparency and in communication with its members.
Please come on out to the annual general meeting for the KBA on August 15th at 7:00 at the Kingston Naval Veterans Association on Sydenham Rd. All are welcome to come and listen and/or provide input.
Welcome to our new domain – kingstonbaseball.ca. We figured that the longest serving baseball association in town deserved a better name. So stay tuned while we build and add to better serve you!
Remember – Fall Ball is coming soon! Updates in the next few days!!!
